Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of Robinson's strategy (SQ3R) on developing reading comprehension skills of basic eighth grade students. The researchers prepared a list of reading comprehension skills for eighth grade students, a reading comprehension test, and a strategy guide to help teachers implement the strategy. The sample of the study was divided into two groups; experimental group, which studied reading using Robinson’s strategy and a control group which studied reading in the regular way. The results indicated that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the students in the experimental and control groups in the post- test of the reading comprehension skills in favor to the experimental in five levels of reading comprehension, namely, literal, deductive, reasoning, critical, and creative. In addition, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups at the explanatory and sense levels.

هدفت الدراسة الحاليّة التحقّق من فاعلية إستراتيجية روبنسون SQ3R في تنمية مهارات الفهم القرائي لدى طالبات الصف الثامن الأساسي، ولتحقيق ذلك أعدت الباحثتان قائمة بمهارات الفهم القرائي المناسبة لطالبات الصف الثامن الأساسي، واختبارًا للفهم القرائي، ودليلًا للإستراتيجية. وتكونت عينة الدراسة من مجموعتين، تجريبية اشتملت 27 طالبة، درسن القراءة إستراتيجية روبنسون، وضابطة ضمت 30 طالبة، درسن القراءة بالطريقة العادية. وقد أشارت النتائج إلى وجود فرق دال إحصائيًا بين متوسطي درجات الطالبات في المجموعتين التجريبية والضابطة في التطبيق البعدي لاختبار مهارات الفهم القرائي لصالح المجموعة التجريبية. وكذلك كشفت نتائج الدراسة عن وجود فرق دال إحصائيًا بين متوسطي درجات المجموعتين التجريبية والضابطة في خمس مستويات للفهم القرائي. وعدم وجود فرق دال إحصائيًا بين المجموعتين في المستويين التفسيري، والتذوقي .
