Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore the common traffic offences among adolescents. In addition, to examine the relationship between traffic offences and (leisure boredom, sensation seeking, and attitudes towards participation in high-risk Sport). Participants (N = 289) were recruited via stratified random sampling from grade (1st, 2nd, 3rd) of secondary schools (males) in Turaif city. According to the results, The common traffic offences observed among adolescents were, driving a car without wearing a seat belt, driving a car over speed limit, use a mobile phone while driving, engaging in Altaheet, engaged in car racing with others. Using handbrake without needing only for excitement. The results also showed that adolescents reported high levels of leisure boredom, sensation seeking and attitudes towards participation in high-risk Sport.. A positive relationships were found between traffic offences and (leisure boredom, sensation seeking and attitudes towards participation in high-risk Sport). No significant differences were found in the leisure boredom, sensation seeking, and attitudes towards participation in high-risk Sport according to grade variable except in traffic offences.. The researcher ended his study with numerous suggestions and recommendations such as these finding suggest that traffic offenders are arousing seekers and therefore must be provided with recreation programs including high-risk sports as socially acceptable activities instead of risky behaviors in driving to be psychologically rewarding a means of reducing boredom and to fulfill their thirst for excitement.

Arabic Abstract الملخص باللغة العربية

تهدف هذه الدراسة الى التعرف على اكثر المخالفات المرورية شيوعاً بين المراهقين وعلاقتها بالملل في وقت الفراغ والبحث عن الاثارة ، والاتجاهات نحو ممارسة الأنشطة الرياضية الخطرة. كما دأبت الدراسة في الكشف عن الفروقات الاحصائية في تلك المتغيرات تبعاً لمتغير الصف الدراسي. وتم تطبيق الدراسة على عينة عشوائية طبقية بلغت 289 طالباً من طلاب المرحلة الثانوية بمدينة طريف. وتوصلت الدراسة بأن أكثر المخالفات المرورية ارتكاباً بين المراهقين كانت عدم ربط حزام الأمان، وتجاوز السرعة المصرح بها، واستخدام الجوال اثناء القيادة، وممارسة التفحيط، والدخول في سباقات مع السيارات الأخرى. واستعمال المكابح فجأة بلا داع بقصد. وتبين من نتائج الدراسة امتلاك المراهقين معدلات عالية من الملل في وقت الفراغ، البحث عن الإثارة، والاتجاهات نحو ممارسة الأنشطة الرياضية الخطرة. وأشارت النتائج الى وجود علاقة دالة احصائياً بين تلك المتغيرات وبين ارتكابهم للمخالفات المرورية. كما تبين من النتائج بعدم وجود فروق دالة احصائياً بين المراهقين في معدلات الملل والبحث عن الاثارة والاتجاهات نحو ممارسة الأنشطة الرياضية تعزى لمتغير الصف الدراسي باستثناء ارتكاب المخالفات المرورية. وقد ختم الباحث دراسته بعدد من التوصيات والمقترحات كان أهمها أن مرتكبي المخالفات المرورية هم باحثي إثارة وارتبطت تلك المخالفات احصائياً بالاتجاهات نحو ممارسة الأنشطة الرياضية الخطرة ، لذا من الأجدر أن تتوفر لهم برامج ترويحية تحتوي على انشطة رياضية خطرة كفرص بديلة -مقبولة اجتماعياً- لإشباع مشاعر المراهقين من المتعة والاثارة ولتقليص شعورهم بالملل في أوقات الفراغ للمساهمة في تقليل معدلات السلوكيات الخطرة في القيادة.
