Aims and Scope
The Journal of Electronic Theses and Dissertations (J-ETD) is an open access, peer-reviewed journal advancing the theory and practice of producing, hosting, and indexing student scholarship that exists in digital format in the institutional repositories of universities, with metadata indexed in a variety of public sources. J-ETD is sponsored by the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) and hosted at the Library Scholarworks Repository of the University of the United Arab Emirates (UAEU). J-ETD welcomes articles by contributors from all areas of the globe related to all aspects of the creation, publication, distribution, cataloging, and indexing of original student digitized theses and dissertations. Submissions covering both theoretical and practical applications are welcomed. Significant conference papers presented at the annual ETD symposium sponsored by NDLTD will also be considered for publication in J-ETD.
Topics of interest include all aspects of electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs). The following list should not be considered a constraint if your research is a pioneering approach to understanding one or more aspects of ETDs:

Article Types
- Full-Length Papers of no more than 5,000 words.
- ETDs in Action articles of no more than of no more than 2,000 words.
- Letters to the Editor should not exceed 900 words.
- Reviews, including products, tools, and books should not exceed 900 words.
- Commentaries present viewpoints or interpretations on ETD topics and cover important or timely topics and should not exceed 2000 words.

Open Access
J-ETD provides immediate open access to its content. J-ETD editors believe making research freely available to the public best benefits research, scholars, education, and society. J-ETD does not charge an author subscription, submission, copy editing, or author fees. J-ETD treats the individual article as an important unit of emerging knowledge, and publication of articles will not be delayed. Each article will be assigned a Creative Commons non- commercial share-alike license to maximize non-commercial distribution while making sure the article author receives credit in any future adaptation or use. In order to control publication expenses, there will not be a print edition of J-ETD. Authors retain copyright while granting J-ETD permission to publish and distribute their article.
Publication Frequency
J-ETD publishes articles as they become available for publication, following a thorough review, full or conditional acceptance, and copy correction process. Each publication year starting with 2021 will be considered a volume, with chronologic publishing of each article in the volume.
Indexing
As a new academic-oriented journal, J-ETD is indexed in Google Scholar. NDLTD, the official sponsor of the journal, will use its website and social media presence, as well as its annual international symposium, to promote both the publication and article submission. We hope that other indexing sources consider inclusion of J-ETD.

Advertising and Marketing
J-ETD promotes new published articles via Twitter @j-etd and an NDLTD journal announcement email list. NDLTD will promote the journal through its website, social media presence, and annual sponsored symposia in a wide variety of international locations. There is no advertising for J-ETD, as the all costs are currently covered by the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and NDLTD. Universities that consider membership in NDLTD will be supporting J-ETD with their membership contributions.
Awards
J-ETD articles will be eligible for future award opportunities from NDLTD.
Digital Preservation
J-ETD is digitally published by UAEU, in collaboration with the NDLTD. UAEU uses the Bepress digital repository platform for e-journal hosting, and the cloud-based hosting configuration will maintain permanent archives for the purpose of ensuring long-term availability and accessibility of journal content. The Creative Commons license assigned to each J-ETD article encourages author self-archiving in personal websites, scholarship hosting services such as ResearchGate, and institutional repositories at the authors’ own universities.
Funding Statement
All costs for the publication and distribution of J-ETD are provided by the generous support of UAEU and the NDLTD. The entirety of journal operations is supported by considerable volunteer contributions of time and effort from the J-ETD editorial staff and digital library team at the UAEU.
