Abstract

Integrating technology in the classroom is essential to develop students from this generation’s learning skills. Based on previous studies, using a collaborative digital platform to enhance writing skills within the EFL context has been advantageous to students. All in all, this study attempts to explore the impact of using Story Bird (a digital platform) on the students’ narrative writing skills and specific sequencing of events and dialogue writing. This is done by performing a pre-test and post-test design on a control and experimental ESL 10th-grade students’ group. This study would serve as a baseline for further studies and an action research study that may benefit other teachers to enhance their students’ writing skills. It was also found that there is a gap in the literature with regards to using this digital platform in narrative writing skills in the UAE and the Gulf Region. Although the limitations encompass time and scope that may impact the generalizability of the study, it can serve as an essential first step towards integrating such technologies in the writing EFL classroom.

إن استخدامَ التكنولوجیا داخل الصفوف أصبح جزءًا أساسیاً في عملیة التعلیم والتعلم لھذا الجیل ، وبناءً على الدراسات السابقة فإن استعمال التكنولوجیا یساھم بشكل فعال في تنمیة مھارة الكتابة باللغة الإنجلیزیة. وخلاصة القول (تقوم ھذه الدراسة محاولة منا لاكتشاف مدى تأثیر برنامج ستوري بیرد. على تنمیة مھارة الكتابة القصصیة للطلاب ، وخاصة تسلسل الأحداث ، واستعمال اللغة والحوار، وكل ذلك یتم عن طریق تطبیق الامتحان القبلي ثم الاختبار البعدي على طلاب " الصف العاشر" ، وستكون ھذه الدراسة بمثابة الأساس لمزید من الدراسات البحثیة ، وتعزیز دور المعلمین في تحسین مھارة الكتابة لطلابھم وقد وجد أیضا أن ھناك فجوة في استخدام " تكنولوجیا التعلیم " داخل دولة الإمارات العربیة المتحدة ، ومنطقة الخلیج العربي. وبالرغم من وجود بعض المعوقات وھي (الوقت ، و تعمیم الدراسة ) إلا أنھا بمثابة الخطوة الأولى نحو دمج ھذه التقنیات لتحسین مھارة الكتابة داخل الفصل الفصل وخارجھا.
