The exhibition ‘Between the Lines’ highlights the emergence of Emirati pop culture, blending diverse influences into new forms of self-expression that reflect modern Emirati identities.

Featuring the works of 18 Emirati illustrators, the exhibition explores the balance between technical precision and conceptual creativity, using the concept of lines as both frameworks and constraints. Lines, as design elements, can either facilitate communication by creating shapes and forms or impose limits by encapsulating and defining such shapes. In this sense, lines can represent both artistic freedom and boundaries. Within these limitations, true expression thrives in the spaces between the lines. Each comic or illustration gives voice to what lies beyond the visible, offering insights into the dimensions of personal symbols.

While each artwork is accompanied by the artist’s interpretation, viewers are invited to explore the hidden dimensions within the pieces, contributing their own perspectives and adding new layers of meaning to the narrative, transcending conventional interpretations.
