The purpose of this study was to identify the impact of the empowerment training programme (Tamkeen) on developing the competencies of the school principals of Cycle 2 under the umbrella of Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) in the City of Al-Ain. The study also provided the voice of the principals regarding improving the contents of Tamkeen programme. This study was an exploratory and incorporated interview as an approach to collecting the required data. The study sample of the participants (interviewees) consisted of seventeen principals. The interviews were conducted during the academic year of 2016/2017. The study proposed two research questions: i) what would be the possible impact of Tamkeen programme on developing competencies from the principals’ prespectives? and ii) what are the recommendations of the principals for improving the efficiency of Tamkeen?
