Abstract

This study aims at identifying the roles of school principal according the new school model applied by Abu Dhabi Educational Council, and the extent of applying these roles in the field; more to the point, identifying any gaps between what is requested from the principals and what is really presented. The aforementioned aims are to be reached through answering the following questions:

  1. To what extent do principals in Al Ain apply the strategic and educational leadership standards according to the new school model, from principals’ perspective?
  2. To what extent do principals in Al Ain apply the strategic and educational leadership standards according to the new school model, from teachers’ perspective?
  3. To what extent do teachers and principals agree and disagree about applying the strategic and educational leadership standards?

For the purpose of collecting the study data, the researcher distributed a questionnaire consist of (45) paragraphs distributed on six subjects among (890) principals and teachers. After analyzing the data, the following were found: both teachers and principals agree that knowledge, skills, and occupational proficiency of the strategic and educational leadership standards are applied, they also agree that there is no gap between what is requested from principals and what is really applied regarding the standards of strategic and educational leadership specified according to the new school model; Principals are applying these standards in the approved manner.
