Abstract
Protection of Intellectual Property Rights through the Digital Recording System (Blockchain)
The digital ledger system (Blockchain) appeared in 2008 by the Japanese programmer Satoshi Nakamoto, and his innovation came to ensure the circulation of the digital currency Bitcoin. The digital system (blockchain) has been likened to a digital record; In which information is stored and documented in an elaborate manner that is difficult to penetrate.
The UAE government has adopted the technology of digital transactions (Blockchain) in executing government transactions. To achieve the desired results, the country launched the UAE Digital Transactions Strategy 2021 and the Dubai Digital Transactions Strategy. The UAE Strategy for Digital Transactions 2021 aims to adapt and employ advanced technologies to transfer 50% of government transactions at the federal level to the Blockchain platform by 2021. The Dubai Blockchain Strategy will also contribute to transforming Dubai into the first city to be fully managed by the Blockchain platform. Blockchain strategy is based on 3 pillars: government efficiency, industry establishment, and global leadership.
In this thesis, our study focused on defining the concept of the digital registry, its components, its mechanism of action, and its connection to the rules of intellectual property (Chapter one). In the second chapter, we define the rules for protecting intellectual property in the digital registry system, specifically copyright as a model. We ended the study with a conclusion in which we identified some findings and recommendations.
